Review: Jerkcurb – Night On Earth

Night_On_Earth_Jerkcurb_HandsomeDad

Night On Earth is the debut single to introduce North London’s Jerkcurb – the youthful introspective and spinner of enchanting pop melodies.

“About 5 years ago, I started speaking to a girl on the Internet. It began kind of accidentally, but it went on for the best part of a year.

‘In eternity, I chose you.’ A sublime feeling is created and you begin to feel slightly dreamy. “Night on Earth” starts out with an inviting slow beat to ease you in, paired with a guitar right away. Halfway through, and everything kicks in; Jerkcurb’s voice becomes a lot louder, creating a more powerful yet somewhat enchanting feel. It finishes with transitions from techno to slight classical, to techno again and then ending on an eerie, kind of haunting sound. The swift change of tempo creates a really unique and interesting vibe, and although the aspects of music are very different they work in a way to compliment the other. Jerkcurb is clearly capturing and using aspects from different styles of music to create this idiosyncratic composition which works beautifully.

Night On Earth will be released on August 12th via Handsome Dad Records, with an additional track entitled Midnight Snack. Preordering of the 7 inch is available here.
