Say hello to the West London based electronic producer Nathan Jenkins, aka Bullion, and his forthcoming 13-track album ‘Loop The Loop’, set to be released on the 26th this February.
Listening to this was nothing but pleasurable, and has been playing on repeat on iTunes all day – especially the song ‘My Lar’, reminiscent of all my favourite things – from the soundtrack to childhood game The Legend of Zelda, to the atmospheric and thought provoking Bonobo. There’s even a hint of Paul Simon’s lazy Sunday music in there.
Bullion has a collaborated with a team of talented friends and musicians who feature throughout the album, such as dual vocals from Laura Groves and Laura Coulson, Jesse Hackett on piano, string arrangement by Sarah Anderson of Chrome Hoof, Ben Reed on bass, and Tic Zogson on guitar. The result: If not one of the best introducing albums of 2016, with his catchy hooks, new romantics, 80s inspired tropical pop – Bullion is onto great things and is going to be a big big catch.
Each track holds their own and brings you something new and exciting to discover – from 80s synthy bass to new wave sampling, Bullion’s voice compliments the energetic backbeat and drum machines every time. This album carries great rhythm and true character to Bullion, you can tell he is a very talented musician who has a real passion for making this. Seeing this live would also be a real treat, and with his old to new sounds he’s branched to a greater audience with greater appeal.
Not far off from the Drive Soundtrack, the journey you go on listening to this is everything you want it be – only taking you good places, something similar to what paradise might sound like, creating a dreamy floaty feeling where you can lose yourself in for the duration and help you forget of these cold bleak February days.
