Low Jack – Imaginary Boogie

French Producer Low Jack, teamed up with fellow L.I.E.S artist Ron Morelli for a fantastic NTS Show back in November 2014. Prior to that He had an LP release in the beginning of 2014 with Garifuna Variations, a sonic exploration through the audible atmosphere of french culture, comprised entirely of samples collected in Paris.

Following on from these successes, Low Jack has recently released a dusty, chugging, acid infused 6 track EP on London based Trilogy Tapes entitled Imaginary Boogie. Check out the stellar title track below.

Crustation – Flame (Mood II Swing Bordeline Insanity Dub Mix)

Mood II Swing (John Ciafone & Lem Springsteen) were a remixing duo from the late 90’s who established a reputation for themselves after there remix of Ultra Nate ‘Free’. Amongst other belters like ‘Move me dub’ & ‘Helpless’, It was Flame that really seems to capture the essence of Mood II swings infectious grooves. Floating Points even dropped this track during his set at Bristol newest underground event ‘An Evening With…’, sending the room off on a mad one.

Herbert – I Hadn’t Known (I Only Heard)

Herbert’s ability to create authentic grooves that sound so different from anything else are summed up in this absolute stomper. Best known for recording drums in a hot air balloon, and recording the entire life cycle of a pig, his works spans an eclectic array of genres & approaches which he demonstrates through his work with the Matthew Herbert Big Band, an orchestral project. This track in particular though, released in 2006, is a sublime example of his gifted talents.

Black Sheep – North South East West (Buckwild Remix)

Black sheep are a duo from New York, formed in the late 80’s and releasing two dope albums, before splitting up in 1995. They were a part of the native tongue movement, which was a highly influential community of rappers including de la soul and A Tribe Called Quest. Known for their smooth delivery and intelligent lyrics, Black Sheep produced many hit records including flavour of the month and The Choice Is Yours. But it is this remix, with such soulful beat production that seems to capture the essence of the golden era. Enjoy
