London Sinfonietta to perform Under the Skin soundtrack

Under The Skin - Cone Magazine

Mica Levi’s intoxicating soundtrack for Under The Skin will be performed live by London Sinfonietta across 4 UK shows.

Jonathan Glazer’s 2014 film Under the Skin was lauded by critics for its uneasy representation of an otherwordly predator (Scarlet Johansson), who used her striking sexuality to lure everyday men to their eventual demise. Mica Levi, the every-evolving London-based experimental musician, was asked to compose the soundtrack (a first for her) and did so by composing a beautiful, elemental and skewed score that enhances Glazer’s narrative.

London Sinfonietta, in conjunction with Sound Intermedia, will perform the score live across 4 UK dates, with Mica Levi and Jonathan Berman sharing the role of conductor across the shows. The film itself will run alongside the performance, giving audiences the complete audio-visual experience.

“Previously known as a DJ and singer-songwriter in her band Micachu and the Shapes, with whom the London Sinfonietta have collaborated, Levi was catapulted to international fame and earned herself a BAFTA nomination for the film score. With strains of Ligeti and Cage running through its hazy mix of digitally-processed and live sound, Levi’s microtonal world is captivating in performance – veering between sensuality and disquiet to compelling effect.” – London Sinfonietta.
