Floating Points and James Holden collaborate with Maâlem Mahmoud Guinia

Floating Points on Cone Magazine

Floating Points and James Holden are going to release an EP entitled Marhaba that was composed with the Moroccan singer and guembri player.

The EP will have its first appearance at the independent record label market in Spitalfields this weekend. The EP comes off the back of the pair’s recent trip to Morocco for the fifth Marrakech Biennale (which also featured Vessel and Biosphere).

It will be released on both Eglo Recordings as a 12″ and Border Community as a digital download on the 20th April. The release will be accompanied by a 20 page photo essay book with work from Camille Blake.

Floating Points will share a stall with Four Tet at Spitalfields this weekend where they have ‘super advanced copies’ on offer, according to his Facebook post. The stall will open from 11am.

Late last year Boiler Room joined Maâlem Mahmoud Guinia in Marrakech to showcase some of the worlds oldest music cultures for an In stereo session. Check it out below…
