The tragic and morbid tonnes of an old and forgotten punk rocker are depicted in the latest music video from Ariel Pink.
Ariel Pink has tendency to use nostalgic tonnes of 70’s rock in his career, and in this video we see an ageing punk rocker, going about his day to day life, in what seems to be a rather disdain and self-pitying way.
The video begins with our anorexic, weather-beaten protagonist (Former frontman of the Mau Maus) waking to the lyrics “I died unknown”. He then goes on to visit an elderly home, shoot pool, and perform on stage, with varying cameos from Ariel Pink thorughout.
The track, which appears on Pink’s most recent album Pom Pom, was released in November 2014. Many tracks from the album were actually written in the hospital where the Runaways manager and producer died of cancer earlier this year. The video was directed by Photographer and filmmaker Grant Singer.
