Freaky metal colossus, ‘Arcadia Spider’ brings Its brand new Metamorphosis show to Bristol
For the first time since its inception, Arcadia Spectacular and their world-famous robotic spider, built in Bristol from 50 tonnes of recycled military hardware, will be set up in Bristol’s central Queen’s Square on the 4th & 5th September.
The unique stage fuses innovative music, circus, sculpture, special effects and huge scale, recycled biofuel pyrotechnics to deliver a truly epic weekend on home-turf.
Having recently returned from Miami’s Ultra Festival, the creepy crawly monster has hosted DJs like Fatboy Slim, Disclosure, and Seth Troxler within its central hull.
Organisers will be showcasing their latest immersive show Metamorphosis, which will debut at Glastonbury Festival in June of this year.
Festival organisers Pip Rush and Bert Cole told Cone Magazine:
“The spider is stored between Bristol and Glastonbury, and is moved in 3 pieces on 3 trucks. It is constantly evolving show by show, and has been since we first found the scrapped customs and excise machines in 2010 and decided to make a giant tripod stage.“
This will be hosted in collaboration with the non-for-profit charity Brisfest, and Bristol 2015. Having been recycled by oppressive military material, It’s ethical & green background coincides with Bristols green motive; being the only city in the world with an official and significant ‘green’ title in 2015.
Lineup TBA in June.
