August is stacked with releases that pull in wildly different directions, from hardcore holdovers to hushed singer-songwriter fare.
Margaret Glaspy and The Mountain Goats kick off the month with a quieter, more interior approach, while Ceremony and Cancer Bats are slated to close out the month on a much heavier and louder note.
The music releases get especially crowded on August 21, when DMA’s self-titled effort lands alongside Julia Holter’s Materia and Chelsea Wolfe’s The Dark. That’ll certainly give you listeners a solid summer streatch that swings from arena-ready rock to something far more unsettling.
Adding in comeback records from Cornelius and Jim James, plus newer names like Ada Lea and Asher White pushing into their own lanes, this month is looking like one of the more genre-scrambled stretches of 2026.
