The Red Bull Music Academy is staging a month long UK tour, hitting four cities, for four weekends with 36 shows and 192 artists.
The tour, with its carefully curated planning will go through London, Manchester, Glasgow and Bristol. With a roster that runs the gamut from global pioneers to top tier UK talent, the Red Bull Music Academy uk tour will also feature live radio broadcast performances from each location.
Running from the 2nd to the 6th April, the RBMA tour will land in Bristol, kicking off proceedings with a Seth Troxler three part affair that finds him in discussions with Resident Advisor’s Nick Sabine.
Red Bull Music Academy Radio will then broadcast a free admission live performance on the 4th April, and what better place to host the event than cult record store Idle Hands. With it’s location in the heart of Bristol’s burgeoning cultural neighbourhood Stokes Croft, vinyl junkies can take refuge in the scenic backdrop of record littered walls, whilst watching resident DJ’s Appleblim, Chris Farrell, and Felix Dickinson perform live. They will be supported by some of Bristols finest emerging artists such as Shanti Celeste, DJ Krust and Troy Gunner.
Crack magazine will then transform a 17th century gothic manor house on Kings Weston estate for a truly one of a kind house party, with Danny Brown giving a performance, alongside 2014 academy alumnus Mumdance, Novelist, and his crew The Square.
Things take a turn for the esoteric, with alt-fusion group Goat throwing a masked ball, full of glitzy glamour and frivolity.
Local party starters Just Jack will then invite Dj Koze down for a soiree, where he bestows his beliefs behind the Amygdala (the inspiration behind his second album), which is soundtracked by ItaloJohnson, and supported by Just Jack residents Tom Rio, Dan Wild, and Robin Sure.
Lonnie Liston Smith and Gilles Peterson will then takeover the Bristol Planetarium to mark the 40th anniversary of Smiths seminal cosmic jazz album Expansions. Proceedings will start with a talk from the pair before performing a live collaborative set.
