We’re hugely proud to announce today an exclusive world premiere from Wire Magazine for our new documentary.
The documentary takes a look at the world’s first synthesizer, exploring the interesting social and political forces that artists face when approaching this instrument from a contemporary standpoint.
Directed by Cone founder Peter Malla, and filmed and edited by Gwilym Evans, The Organ: A Modern Classic aims to highlight the various ways in which artists such as Squarepusher, Anna Von Hausswolff and Oneohtrix Point Never are adapting the instrument for contemporary music.
“Filming such an impressive instrument has been a real joy. To be given the opportunity to interview artists like James McVinnine and Craig Armstrong and gain their deep knowledge of the subject was such a privilege. With this being shot on a 4K cinema camera, we were really able to present the majesty of the organ, and I hope we did it justice.” – Peter Malla
