We’ve launched Cone TV with a short documentary on Moxie and NTS Radio

Moxie and the NTS Radio story on cone magazine documentary

Today we launched our visual media channel Cone TV, a platform for researched documentary style features, journalistic content, stories and other visual media.

Next month Cone Magazine will be celebrating its first birthday in Bristol, and to mark this milestone we decided to launch a TV channel alongside some distinct re-branding. Cone started life as a platform to provide original and thought provoking content in Music | Art | Culture. Cone TV will now offer audiences this same ethos but in well-researched, and professionally shot documentaries and videos.

For our first video we caught up with London based DJ Moxie (Alice), who is best known for her work with London based community radio station NTS. We have been a longstanding supporter of what NTS radio does, and so to have Alice (who has been a key component of the radio’s operations since its very beginnings) has made this project particularly special for us.

After helping her friend Benji B to promote his night Deviation, Moxie cut her teeth with an appearance on Sinden’s Kiss FM show back in 2010, and it wasn’t long before she found herself presenting shows on the pirate station Rinse FM. Her affiliation with radio is unwavering, and alongside being a regular host on BBC Radio 1, has also been a longstanding resident for Dalston community radio station NTS.

A recognisable face in the London club circuit, Alice would regularly play at the dubstep club night DMZ at Brixton’s Mass, as well as a string of international festivals including Dimensions and a spectacular set at this years Farr Festival (which we covered here).

In this short documentary we traveled to London to catch up with Alice and spend a day getting to know more about her and her ties with NTS Radio. We then caught up with NTS founder and co-founder of Boiler Room, Femi Adeyemi.
