Is this the beginning of computer keyboard sampling mania.
Last week we had a Daft Punk Harder, Better Stronger, Faster sampling application. Well now you can use the keys on your computer keyboard to launch samples from tracks by 9th Wonder, Kanye West & J Dilla.
Brought to you by app developer Matt Daniels, Sample Stitch aligns samples from the tracks across your keyboard so that you can recreate the section of the instrumental. You will have to hold and trigger samples with accurate timing to make it not sound like a muddled mess.
The app then allows you to record your session, and share on social platforms.
To accompany the application, Matt comments that “Before we take a look at each sample, you might have noticed how weird it is to compose with milliseconds of a song. Producers are studying these moments for hours. They understand the minutia – the exact note at the exact millisecond that creates an interesting beat”. He says that he created this application for people to appreciate the dedication and obsessive labour put into creating these iconic beats.
Taking samples from: The Escorts – I cant stand to see you cry ( J Dilla – Dont Cry), Otis Redding – Try a Little Tenderness (Kanye – Otis), The Impressions – Sunshine (Impressknowssoul!!!!)
