From reggae to grime to hip-hop and everything in between, Outlook is paving the way with an expansive line-up that fully embraces the sound system culture.
Seven major stages grace Fort Punta Christo this year, ranging from the 100m long Moat Stage to the open air arena. Thursday sees Ram Jam guiding dancers through the night at The Clearing Stage, followed with performances by Andy C, an ‘Outer Edges’ set from Noisia, Joey Bada$$ and Kano all on the Friday evening. High-energy drum and bass will follow on Saturday night from the likes of High Contrast, London Elektricity and more. Sunday will focus primarily on UK rap, spanning genres with Stormzy, Rejjle Snow, Section Boyz, and Novelist backed by garage crew Kurupt FM.
The Void Stage lies just outside the fort. Thursday night sees garage legends Zed Bias and MJ Cole join with Just Jam and the Neverland Clan for a special show. Hot Wuk’s Friday night bashment will feature The Heatwave, Queen, and more, whilst Deep Medi celebrate 10 years with a Sunday night session that will include boss man Mala, and Tokyo sounds from Goth-Trad and others. 15 years of dispatch will grace the Void on Sunday, featuring Dub Fhizix, Alix Perez, Skeptical with MC DRS and DLR.
The impressive 100m long Moat Stage will kick off Thursday’s proceedings with drum n bass icons Metalheads x Star Wars. Bandulu brings Bristol rhythms to Pula on Friday night, with label bosses Kahn & Neek heading the stage next to the family Comodo. Madam X & Star Eyes warm up the stage for Saturday, whilst on the Sunday darker dubstep sets will fill the high walls, with Contact taking over. Youngsta helms the stage, with support from scene starters Benga, among others.
The open air arena will play host to an eclectic array of music over the four days, including a performance from Scottish Soundsystem crew Mungo Hifi. Hyperdub x Teklife will feature high energy sets on the Friday night from Koda 9, DJ Spinn and friends. Infamous Leads icon Subdub will spin original roots sounds with a fusion of UK, French and Croatian artists.
The Stables is a stage that boasts an incredible light system and weighty sound system. All Trap Music will join with Lex Luger and other new school US sounds, and sister festival Dimensions host the Friday night with world sounds and house-filled grooves. Manchester massive LEVELZ return with a full crew on Saturday night, with Black Josh, Chunky, Fox, Metrodome and others bringing grime beats and energetic dancehall flavours.
A wide array of music can be found in the ever-growing Garden Stage. Boom Bap are first up on Thursday, along with live performances from Mick Jenkins, The Four Owls and more. For The Love Of Garage will hold down the fort on Friday night, with power sets from Artful Dodger, Mighty Moe and more. iD-MIX will host the stage on Saturday, bringing raw sounds from rapper Angel Haze, CASISDEAD, alongside AJ Tracey and Riz La Teef.
The Beach Stage is situated on the festival campsite. Soul groovers So Fresh So Clean grace the stage on Thursday, with headline slots from Hiatus Kalyote and words from Akala and London’s Little Simz. Twinkle Brothers bring the dub vibes on Friday night, the Gentleman’s Dub Club bring the ska. Live sets from Swindle and First Degree Burns take the stage on Saturday, with a family round-off on Sunday from the Soul:Ution.
