Mothers unveil new video for ‘Copper Mines’

WYWALDYAT - Mothers /\ Cone Magazine

‘Copper Mines’, taken from Mothers’ debut album, presents an introduction to the foundations of a young band, and a snapshot of where they might be heading.

Mothers began in 2013 as the solo project of Athen’s, Georgia-based visual artist Kristine Leschper. Their debut album, ‘When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired’, was recorded as a quartet and released on Wichita Recordings this year. Of particular focus from press and listeners alike was Leschper’s voice – showcasing a clear vulnerability but through strong declamation. Their take on forming grunge from more chamber-folk melodies is controlled and still allows Leschper’s sentiment to be felt strongly. Comparisons could be made to other alternative contemporaries, like Courtney Barnett, who also wear their heart of their sleeve to the backdrop of messy, arpeggio guitars and a smooth resolve.

They have just released a video for their track ‘Copper Mines’ whilst being in the middle of a UK and European tour. They will return later this summer for appearances at Green Man Festival, End Of The Road, and Moseley Folk Festival. More of their tour dates can be found below.
