Moscow’s Outline Festival will be held in a mechanical plant this summer.

This summer’s East Moscow’s Outline Festival will take place in a soon-to-be-demolished mechanical plant known for producing distinctive objects for architecture icons of Post–World War II.

The two-day event will run from July 4-5 and showcase five stages hosting a variety of advanced electronic music and art. The lineup will be spread across three outdoor scenes and two arenas inside various buildings. Live performances will come from Atom™’s Double Vision, Ricardo Villalobos, Pharmakon, Nina Kraviz, Rhadoo and Daniel Avery.

It seems that a pack of German, Polish, US and Russian innovators have banded together to transform this previously stale and eerie site into a creative domain – not a first for Outline. The concept of the festival originated in 2009, when the first ‘outdoor’ event by Arma17 took place in a post-industrial area in the center of Moscow. It merged several club stages with an art exhibition, adding makeshift wooden structures, tree lights and vines en mass. What was previously an eyesore became a haven for skatty, drun n’ bass enthusiasts. It even made an international name for itself in 2014 with an outstanding two-day event at the man-made island on the Moskva river.
