Method Man responds to 88 year ban on Once Upon a Time in Shaolin; “Fuck that Album”

Since a new contract had been written up on the single copy release of Wu-Tangs latest album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, Method man has come forward to voice his opinion.

The contract bans anyone from commercially releasing the album for 88 years after it’s private purchase. Method man said “That shit is stupid”.

Method man said to XXL Magazine, “Fuck that album. I’m tired of this shit and I know everybody else is tired of it, too”. He goes on to say, “When music can’t be music and y’all turning it into something else, fuck that.”

The album will be sold on online auction house Public8, to a private auction. Meaning not just any old chump off the streets can be in with a chance.

Tarik “Cilvaringz” Azzougarh opposed Method Mans opinions alongside RZA, by forwarding attention to this website. Here there are a series of critiquing questions backed by responses from the clan. In a point about how the album lays itself open to elitism, Cilvaringz remarks “We always treasure the things we had to work for or commit to more than the things that are a click away”. This is a huge debate at the moment in digital music. With the large quantity of music available for access, does this sheer volume detract away from the value of music. A debate had on BBC Radio 4 not too long ago.

There seems to be a strong focus from the members on promoting the value of art. But perhaps value of art is objective, and shouldn’t be dictated by the artists own perceptions of perceived value. Leave your thoughts below?
