Last week, a mysterious Soundcloud account called user48736353001 uploaded a huge collection of original Aphex Twin material available for download.
Update: 32 new tracks have been uploaded to the user48736353001 account
This news follows on from Aphex Twin previously sharing never before heard material on soundcloud. These tracks then joined a roster of 110 original Aphex Twin tracks to be made available for download on an elusive Soundcloud account called User48736353001.
The name itself will probably just be a Soundcloud automated name generation, representative of the amount of accounts on the website. In the biography section of this account, the user has attached a description saying “Fly away babies, good luck!”. A rather poetic gesture implying years worth of work, now entering the public consciousness.
It all started when user4873635301 left a Soundcloud comment on Aphex Twin’s ‘Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed [snr2mix]‘: “Would like to know the full setup for this track, brilliant music man. I love your early 90′s stuff so much, I was doing stuff in the early 90’s, similar to you but I didn’t know about you when I did it ! Im also 43 years old 🙂 I’m going to be uploading it to soundcloud soon, gotta dust off the old DAT’s & cassettes!”
The official Aphex Twin account replied, “beautiful stuff, would love to hear more”. And wouldn’t you know, the account user48736353001 (notice the extra 0 at the end) was created, bringing with it a swarm of original Aphex Twin material dating back to the 80’s and 90’s available for free download.
